About the Center

The Plant Pests and Diseases Clinic Surveillance Research Center (PPDCSRC) is a specialized laboratory and research facility of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) focused on the diagnosis, surveillance, and management of plant pests and diseases. The Center serves as a hub for scientific inquiry, diagnostic services, and evidence-based interventions that support sustainable agriculture, food security, and biosecurity.

The Center delivers accurate, timely diagnostic services for insect pests, plant pathogens, and other biotic stresses through laboratory and field-based analyses. It conducts surveillance and monitoring to detect emerging plant health threats, generate early warning information, and support integrated pest and disease management strategies.

PPDCSRC also engages in extension, training, and capacity-building for farmers, agricultural technicians, students, and partner institutions, and provides hands-on learning and research facilities while collaborating with national and international agencies. Through this multidisciplinary approach, the Center advances plant health science, strengthens agricultural resilience, and supports informed decision-making for crop protection in Central Luzon and beyond.

What We Offer

Our Capabilities

Fungal Biobank

A curated repository of authenticated fungal cultures that supports plant disease diagnosis, research and innovation in plant health sciences is the fungal biobank. Fungal biodiversity is preserved through standardized collection, documentation, and long-term storage which facilitates reliable biological resources for research, training, and collaborative research in plant diseases.

Plant Diagnostics

Precision in plant disease diagnosis is a prime information in addressing disease-damage in plants. The Center assures that identification of plant pests and diseases using standardized laboratory and field-validated methods are accurate. Our timely, reliable diagnostics support early detection, risk-informed decision-making, and effective plant protection—advancing sustainable agriculture, biosecurity, and food security.

Excellence in Plant Health

The promotion of plant health through science-driven pest and disease diagnostics, combined with research shaped by real-world field challenges, underpins the Plant Pests and Diseases Clinic Surveillance Research Center's commitment to excellence in delivering practical, evidence-based solutions for farmers and other stakeholders. Backed by skilled experts, the Center delivers accurate plant pest and disease diagnostics that empower informed decisions, strengthen farming systems, and advance effective plant protection solutions. By integrating laboratory analysis, field surveillance, and data-driven approaches, the Center contributes to safeguarding agricultural productivity, and food systems through nature-positive solutions.

Grounded in internationally recognized standards and best practices in plant health, the Center promotes innovation, capacity building, and collaboration across local, national, and international networks. It serves as a platform for advanced research, student training, and extension services, fostering solutions that are both scientifically rigorous and locally responsive. Guided by its commitment to integrity, public service, and continuous improvement, the Center contributes to enhanced agricultural resilience and advances sustainable plant health management for present and future generations.
